Update: Clerk of Court Reform
by Kemp Brinson
I previously blogged about a bill that would move many of the functions of the clerk of court to the court administrator in each circuit. I am pleased to report that the bill did not pass in that form, but an amended version (from way back in late March) did pass that gives the court system some oversight over the clerk’s budget. Seems like a reasonable compromise to me. I am not sure where it stands vis-a-vis governor signature.
Now all we need to do is get all the clerks to take down the dire predictions of gloom and doom splattered all over their various home pages and records search pages.
