More on Criminal Justice Budget Problems
by Kemp Brinson
Two new articles are out on the effect of budget cuts on the criminal justice system, an opinion piece from the Palm Beach Post and an article in the Daily Business Review stating that the Broward County state attorney’s office is forcing its employees to take unpaid leave.
From the Palm Beach Post editorial:
“If the prospect of massive teacher layoffs and the denial of drugs to poor transplant patients who will die without them doesn’t persuade legislators to look for more money, maybe the idea of crimes not being prosecuted will do it. Something must.”
Well said.
